When I was shopping for my bike, I found that the out of the door price for the Shawdow was going to be approximately $1500 (US) more than for my end of year 98 Savage.

I confess that I did not ride either bike before my purchase. The difference in price was so great (and I read such good things on this site) that I made my mind up with out a ride. I'm happy with the decision.

Where I live in Texas, unless the dealer has a used bike around, it is hard to get a demo ride.

Question 1: have other people had the same experience in looking at new bikes, that you can look and touch, but not ride??

Another thing that is at a tangent. I have been looking(just looking) at the Yamaha V-Star Classic. This has a 650 v-twin. It also has a big saddle and a good feel for my big bottom. Although price similar to the Shawdow, it looks like a better deal (styling wise).

Question 2: Has anyone tried out this bike. Does it suffer from a weight problem. Is it similar to the Shawdow or is it better in performance. I have not read much about this bike (most magazines make it seem like bigger is always better and they don't review midsize bikes often)
